Water helps you lose weight! In a study conducted at the University of Tokyo, it was found that women, who consumed foods with high water-content, like fruits and vegetables, showed lower BMI (Body Mass Index) and thinner waistlines.

Researchers are of the view that water in these foods renders a full feeling to your stomach, making you eat less. Nutritionists advise people to stock up their stomach with seasonal fruits and vegetables that contains about 90 percent water.

There are other foods that help you shed pounds.

  •  Broccoli – it is rich in calcium and fiber.
  • Cabbage – it is loaded with antioxidants like Vitamin C, which boosts your immune. Sautee it lightly in a stir-fry or team it with sweet-tart applies for a delightful crunch.
  • Cauliflower is rich in phyto-nutrients that fight cancer, folate, and Vitamin C. You can eat it raw or steam its florets. Steaming it maximizes its antioxidant power.
  • Grapefruit is loaded with potassium, vitamin C, folic acid, and pectin, which is a soluble fiber that fights atherosclerosis. Pink and red grapefruit varieties are rich in lycopene, which is a phytochemical that safeguards your arterial walls against oxidative damage, and Vitamin A.
  •  Lettuce is a diet-food with a mere 60-70 calories in each pound. Romaine lettuce is rich in folic acid, B group of vitamins, and manganese, which regulates blood sugar levels and boost immunity system of the body. Variety with dark green leaves contains the most nutrients.
  • Radish is loaded with folic acid, antioxidants, potassium, and sulfur compounds that help in digestion. The leafy green tops feature more calcium and 6 times more vitamin C than the roots. Toss it in a salad with thin slices.
